We work with you in a compassionate, and shame-free manner
Weight Loss at Upper Echelon
At our weight loss clinic, our philosophy is grounded in comprehensive patient education and routine check-ups, ensuring each individual is well-informed and supported throughout their journey. We emphasize the importance of understanding nutrition, lifestyle impacts, and the science behind weight loss, providing a robust foundation for making sustainable health decisions. Regular check-ups reinforce this educational approach, allowing our physicians to monitor progress, celebrate milestones, and adjust strategies to meet ongoing needs.
At our weight loss clinic, patients can explore weight loss in a warm, encouraging, and non-judgmental environment. We prioritize a shame-free and blame-free atmosphere where setbacks are met with compassion and understanding. Our physicians and staff are committed to offering open, welcoming, and empathetic coaching, creating a supportive space where patients feel comfortable expressing concerns and asking questions. This blend of encouragement, routine medical oversight, and an empathetic approach ensures that our patients not only achieve their weight loss goals but also feel valued and understood every step of the way.
A Personalized Approach to Medical Weight Loss
There is no single weight-loss strategy that works for everyone. Before recommending a plan, we begin by learning about you. Your physician may review your medical history, previous weight-loss efforts, medications, nutrition, activity level, sleep, stress, family history, and any health conditions that could affect your weight.
Depending on your individual circumstances, laboratory testing may also be recommended. Certain medical conditions, including hypothyroidism and other metabolic or hormonal concerns, can contribute to changes in weight or make weight management more difficult. Identifying relevant health factors helps your physician develop a more informed and individualized approach to your care.
Body Composition Testing With iDXA
The number on a scale does not provide a complete picture of your body composition. For patients who want additional information, Upper Echelon Medical offers iDXA body composition scanning. An iDXA scan can provide detailed measurements of body fat and lean mass, offering another way to establish a baseline and monitor changes over time.
Body composition data can be particularly helpful because changes in fat and muscle may not always be reflected by body weight alone. Your physician can help you understand your results and how they relate to your broader health and weight-management goals.
Our approach to Weight Loss
1.
Health Evaluation

First, we check your health for underlying problems that could affect your ability to lose weight. Hormonal problems like hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid gland) can make you gain weight and prevent you from losing it despite diet and exercise efforts. Ruling these conditions out is vital to ensuring there are no covert issues hindering your success.
For patients who are interested, we also offer an iDXA body scan that details your body’s fat and muscle composition to serve as a helpful starting point in your weight loss journey.
2.
Education

We provide you with all the information and support you need to lose weight steadily and keep it off. As part of our educational approach, we provide dietary advice, help you understand the science behind weight loss and metabolism, recommend exercise routines you can stick to, and encourage you to stick with regular checkups on your progress and to celebrate milestones.
3.
Medication

In certain cases, we also provide prescriptions to help with our patients’ weight loss. This could include medication such as semaglutide or Ozempic to help control appetite and facilitate weight loss.
