It’s getting hot in here! Top 5 ways to cool off

We’re in for a heat wave this coming week! Here are a few tips on how to keep cool.

1. Stay hydrated

Drinking lots of fluids is key to keeping your body cool. Water is always a good choice, but you can also try refreshing fruit juices or herbal teas. Avoid alcohol and caffeine, which can actually make you feel more dehydrated.

2. Dress for the heat

Wearing loose, light-colored clothing can help you stay cooler in hot weather. Natural fabrics like cotton are usually more breathable than synthetics.

3. Stay out of the sun

If possible, stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, which is typically between 10 am and 4 pm. If you have to be outside, try to find some shade.

4. Use fans or air conditioning

Fans and air conditioners can both help to keep your home or office cool. If you’re using a fan, be sure to keep doors and windows open so that the air can circulate.

5. Take a cool shower or bath

Taking a cool shower or bath is a great way to lower your body temperature. You can also put cool, wet towels on your pulse points, such as your wrists, neck, and ankles.

Following these tips can help you stay cool and comfortable during a heat wave!Dr. Marisse
